Reach For The Sky

Reach For The Sky

"Reach for the sky..." I've heard it so many times after Shalom pulls the drawstring to her beloved Woody. In this home, we are no stranger to that line, and all the Toy Story films. Shalom has collected Woody, Buzz, Bulls-Eye and of course her favorite, Jessie. As we walked to the park, Shalom attempted to reach some branches that were definitely out of her natural reach. I had to capture the moment, (as blurry as it is) because I loved witnessing her tenacity and focus to not give up and go for what was obviously so high above her.

I was immediately reminded of my husband, who is the greatest dreamer I know. We are not alike at all in this way, I struggle with being too practical (a.k.a. fearful) and sometimes I even become the downright depressing Eeyore in our conversations together. But he doesn't stop. He continues on with such powerful zeal as he shares his passions for the future to reach those in need and really use his gifts fully.  He keeps reaching for that sky- his dreams- and I am seeing them unfold before my very eyes. I wouldn't be as ambitious as he is by myself, but he shows me how to go for it and truly be brave amidst those ever present thoughts of fear and doubt (and lets face it, those ever present bills too!).

So this is just a shout out to you Ans, my beloved husband...thanks for never giving up, for defying the odds, and truly being an example to our children of what it means to really "reach for the sky." Woody is just a fictional hero to the kids right now, but down the road, I hope they see they have a real hero right here at home. You're the real deal.
